Anne Catherine Emmerich
1774–1824 Autor notableAugustinian nun of Dülmen, stigmatist, beatified in 2004. This library hosts the 1914 English translation of her biblical visions, The Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations, in four volumes, and Carl E. Schmöger’s two-volume Life in the English edition of 1885. Clemens Brentano recorded the visions.
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified in 2004 for her life of virtue. That honor does not make Clemens Brentano’s record of her visions part of the faith of the Church, or a history the Church has vouched for. They are private revelations, and no Catholic is bound to believe them.
