Bishop Pablo Antonio Vega of Granada examined the apparitions and approved them as worthy of belief. This diocesan approval gave official recognition to the spiritual significance of the events and encouraged devotion among the faithful.
Following episcopal approval, a shrine was established at Cuapa to facilitate pilgrimage and prayer. The site became the center of Marian devotion in Nicaragua and remains the country's principal modern shrine dedicated to Mary.
