Racconto

The Marian apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolás began in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Argentina, in 1983. The visionary, Gladys Quiroga de Motta, a simple housewife, reported her first experiences on September 25, 1983, when she saw a vision of the Blessed Mother.

Gladys Quiroga de Motta reported her first vision of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus and a large rosary on September 25, 1983. Over the following years, she received numerous messages and locutions, often almost daily, emphasizing the Rosary, consecration to Mary, and Scripture. A new sanctuary, requested in the messages, was subsequently built by the Paraná River, becoming a major pilgrimage site.

The core themes of the messages consistently revolved around prayer, particularly the Holy Rosary, and the centrality of the Eucharist. Our Lady called for a return to God, emphasizing peace, reconciliation, and the renewal of faith. The devotion quickly spread, establishing San Nicolás as one of Latin America's most significant contemporary Marian shrines, attracting millions of pilgrims annually.

The events at San Nicolás received early pastoral acceptance and support from the local diocese. On May 22, 2016, Bishop Héctor Cardelli of the Diocese of San Nicolás officially declared the supernatural character of the apparitions and messages. This decree affirmed the authenticity of the events and encouraged the faithful to embrace the devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolás.
