Resumen

The Church keeps Mary’s birthday as a feast: the dawn before the Sun, the child of Joachim and Anne from whom the Savior would take flesh.

Vida

Destacados
  • Tradition names Saints Joachim and Anne as Mary’s parents, long childless, then given this daughter.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (8 September) is a feast nine months after the Immaculate Conception. Scripture does not narrate the birth; the protoevangelium of James and the liturgy name Joachim and Anne. What the Church sings is that salvation has a human dawn: a girl is born who will be the Mother of God.

Eastern and Western calendars share the day. It is not a private family party; it is the beginning of the house in which the Word will dwell. Every Christian birthday can learn from it: we thank God that someone exists through whom Christ can still come to the world.

Imitate today the joy of Joachim and Anne — gratitude that a life has been given, not earned — and honor the Mother whose birth made Christmas possible.
