Barbara Rehm, then 21 years old, reported seeing the Blessed Mother, who appeared to her on the 25th of each month. During these encounters, Mary reportedly conveyed specific messages and identified herself with a significant title.

The core messages from Marienfried called for profound prayer, penance, and sacrifice, particularly through the Rosary, as means to achieve true peace and avert further global catastrophe. The Blessed Mother reportedly introduced herself as the "Great Mediatrix of Grace," urging devotion under this title and emphasizing the power of the Rosary of Reparation.

From the outset, the local ecclesiastical authorities in the Diocese of Augsburg have maintained a cautious stance regarding the supernatural character of the Marienfried apparitions. While public devotion at the site has been permitted, allowing pilgrims to gather for prayer and services, the Church has not issued a formal declaration recognizing the apparitions as supernatural.

The status remains "under investigation," meaning the Church has neither approved nor definitively condemned the apparitions. This position allows for spiritual benefit from the permitted devotions while awaiting further discernment and without committing to the authenticity of the private revelations themselves.
