On January 17, 1797, in the village of Absam near Innsbruck, Tirol, Austria, a remarkable event occurred in the home of the Bucher family. The 18-year-old Rosina Bucher was the first to notice a luminous, spontaneous image of the Virgin Mary on a windowpane in her room.
The image, depicting the Mater Dolorosa or Our Lady of Sorrows, appeared clearly and distinctly on the glass. Its sudden manifestation without human intervention quickly astonished Rosina's family and neighbors, who gathered to witness the phenomenon.
News of the miraculous image spread rapidly throughout the region, attracting a growing number of curious onlookers and devout pilgrims. Many reported spiritual graces and physical healings after praying before the windowpane, further solidifying belief in its divine origin.
